Settle…
Where does one begin with this word? There are so many different ways one could
approach this word. Someone could settle
an account, or settle in a location to live, or settle for someone to
marry. Each approach to settle brings
about different thoughts. So, I went to
my favorite website Dictionary.com and the definition that stood out for me was
“to pay, as a bill”. When a bill is
settled or paid all is taken care of.
The debt has been removed. A
“bill” has been paid for us; a debt has been settled. Colossians 2:13b-14 states, “God made alive
together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the
record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” Jesus didn’t settle the bill with money; He
settled the bill with His life.
