Wait…Not a word that a fast paced society likes to
hear. In reality we don’t have to wait
for much or if we do have to wait we don’t have to wait long. This dynamic is more than likely a piece of
the puzzle to our impatience. Waiting
almost seems to be out of the question.
We can get a loan if we don’t have the money; we can get faster internet
to download stuff quicker, and the reasons we do not have to wait go on. Why wait?
Well sometimes it is important to wait and sometimes the
wait is long. Think of all the
generations that waited for their Savior to be born. Generation after generation passed and the
Savior had not been born. However,
generation after generation shared how a Savior was going to be born and then
He was. Jesus was born, lived His life
as was noted in scripture, died on the cross, resurrected from the dead and
then ascended into heaven. Now we
wait. We wait for His return so we can
live with Him forever. It is not
something that we can do extra so He will return faster, or get more money to “buy”
His return. We have to wait. In Titus 2:12-14 it shares, “It teaches us to
say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled,
upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the
glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for
us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are
his very own, eager to do what is good.”
That is worth waiting for!
