Near…Have you ever been so near something that it leaves you
in awe? While in San Diego, Dan and I
were in La Jolla beach walking along the beachfront. We noticed a group of people gathering so
naturally we made our way over to see what was going on. There on the beach were sea lions sunning
themselves. The beachfront was blocked
off to protect the sea lions but it was fun to watch the animals in their
natural environment. After watching for
a while, we walked farther down the beach and came upon some seals. Only this time, the area was not blocked
off. You could get up close and personal
with the seals. I was in awe as I stood
near God’s creation.
Being near something or someone can bring about many
different emotions. As a society we have
placed great value in being near a celebrity or sitting near the front of the
stage, but have we put great value in being near God? David shares in Psalm 145:18 – “The Lord is
near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Do we call on Him and feel His presence? So often it is what can we do to make
something work or patting our self on the back because we have done something
great. We forget the presence of God
because we don’t call on Him. He is near! All we have to do is ask.
