Silence…
Silence is one of those things that make many people
uncomfortable. Having been a classroom
teacher, the silence after a question is asked can be deafening. Yet, if I held out long enough the silence
was usually broken. It was so evident
everyone was uncomfortable because they would start squirming in their
seats. It’s kind of the same
uncomfortable feeling we get when entering an elevator and someone else is
present. I think one of the reasons
silence is so uncomfortable is because there is very minimal amount of time in
our life that there is silence. With all
the technology and people silence is almost non-existent. We are on the go or doing something all the
time.
However, a time of silence is needed and should be taken on
a daily basis. If you are taking a time
a silence it doesn’t mean you are doing nothing. The time of silence gives you the opportunity
to focus on Christ. It is time to dig
deep in His word, pray, and listen to what He has to share with you. When the radio is playing or the TV is on or
other things are going on around you it is easy to lose focus on Christ. Despite the difficulties of silence try to
spend some time of silence with the Lord.
Silence will become less awkward the more you spend time in
silence.
“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is
from him” Psalm 62:5
