Restore…
There is just something about a restored item that brings
about a sense of awe. Someone has taken
the time to meticulously bring back an item to its original state. When walking on the fair grounds passed the
restored tractors or restored cars people walk slower. You will find them standing and observing the
fine details of the restoration. If they
are anything like me, I really have no interest in tractors or cars but I can
appreciate the work that went into making something look beautiful again.
God made each and everyone of us unique and beautiful. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted
me together in my mother’s womb. I
praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” (Psalm 139:13-14a) Yet, because we live a sinful life our bodies
“break down” over time. It’s kind of
like that car or tractor that has worked over the years. If you take a look at it you can see the dirt
and rust as well as parts that probably don’t work right or at all. Then someone took the time to restore it back
to its beautiful state. We, too, will be
restored. “And after you have suffered a
little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in
Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” (1 Peter
5:10) Do those words make you stop and
take a look again at just what it says?
Life here on earth will involve suffering; will cause our bodies to
become “dirty” and “rusty”. However, we
have a God that has washed away the dirt.
He has taken care of the rust and when we are called to His eternal
glory the restoration will be beyond what we can comprehend. We will be restored to perfection. There are no words to describe the awe I
feel in knowing I am loved that much!
