A Lamp Shining in a Dark Place...

I absolutely enjoy studying psychology.  There are so many fascinating aspects to consider.  One of the more famous studies regards how people can endure more pain when they know they have an out.  If someone can hit the "stop" button on the pain any time they would like that person can withstand more pain than the person who has no "stop" button. 

We have a "stop" button in God's word!  We have that lamp that is shining in a dark place that gives us the hope we need and the knowledge that we have an "out".  Christ has already won the victory of death and the devil!

"And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation.  For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter 1:19-21 

We have all of Scripture that speaks of the hope we have!  We have a Savior that knows our pain and comforts us in our pain.  We have a Savior that paid the ultimate price so we know this "pain" we endure here is only short lived.  One day we will live in His glory!
